Microsoft Windows 2008 Hyper-V

Hyper-V will be released as an add-on to Windows Server 2008 and a stand-alone server virtualization product. Hyper-V is the hypervisor-based virtualization feature included as part of Windows Server 2008, containing everything needed to support machine virtualization. Microsoft Hyper-V Server is a hypervisor-based server virtualization product that allows customers to virtualize multiple operating systems onto a single physical server.

Windows 2008 virtualization on core server

Windows Server Virtualization will be supported on Windows Server 2008 Server Core at the Windows Server Virtualization RC milestone (roughly March or April of 08). Recommended platform will be Server Core. The only role installed on the host partition should be WSv.

At the Beta milestone (December 2007) and the Preview that is out now, WSv is supported to install only on Full Version of W2K8.
